Pilsner with a touch of Vienna and Munich, single decocted then hopped with German Spalt throughout. Smooth, clean and biscuity with a spicy noble hop aroma.

Can: Poured a clear brown color festbier with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry caramelized malt notes with some nice biscuit notes. Taste is also a mix of dry caramelized malt notes with some biscuit notes and light dry hoppy notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Easy drinking festbier.

This one pours a light golden amber color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like honey, toasted bread, lightly sweet hop character, and some caramel.
I tend to prefer Festbier to Oktoberfest for the style’s smaller emphasis on sweetness, but this is unfortunately just a little bit too sweet for the sub-style. I want a bit more crispness, some bite, even light, to help cut down the malt character here, and it’s just not really there.
This is light bodied, reasonably drinkable, but just not crisp enough.
This style is never going to be right down the middle for Other Half’s general skills, but I did have a bit higher expectations for it than what I got.
