Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with Sightglass Coffee Banner Dark Blend, with Vanilla and Milk Sugar (14%) With this coffee based imperial stout series we work with some of our favorite coffee roasters from around the US. This coffee brings a more traditional flavor/aroma profile with the darker roast providing notes of bittersweet chocolate and toffee. Very rich and true-to-type when people think of what coffee smells and tastes like.

Picked this up and it's other iteration at Other Half late last year, and I'm finally getting around to it now. Love their beers, love their stouts, and this was certainly enjoyable as it was on par with what I've come to expect from them over the years. While this wasn't the best that I've had from them, it was enjoyable, flavorful, and had me wishing that there was actually a winter here this year!

Of course, this poured dark but amazingly, there wasn't any head or lacing to be seen as this was the textbook "motor oil" stout in appearance. It could have been a bit thicker although it was by no means thin as it had a nice consistency to it. Lots of bourbon, dark chocolate, coffee, and batter in the mild nose as they were a bit more prominent in the taste. Strong, sweet, and sticky, this had a nice woody and fresh-roasted undertone to it. Plenty going on here but nothing was overpowering relative to everything else as this went down as smooth as a cup of morning joe - with just a bit more alcohol.

Speaking of that, this was listed at 13% ABV but it felt every bit that strong as I could have sworn that it was as potent as what it was listed as on here. No date was listed on the bottle but it held up well as there wasn't any sediment to be seen here. Stouts tend to be rated higher than other styles on here and although this wasn't a letdown, it was middle-of-the-pack as better examples could easily be found. Thankfully, this was a quality brew that was worthy of being in Other Half's lineup.
