BA Imperial Stout with cacao nibs, pecans and coconut. Our collab with our buddy Kyle from @horusagedales is back and this time with an even heavier dose of adjuncts. More nibs, more coconut and more pecans.

From a 16.9oz bottle. 2024 release - 11.5% ABV

Very slight hiss upon opening. This beer looks like a thick motor oil while pouring. In the glass it is pitch black in color. There was no head with a somewhat aggressive pour. There is a small brown ring on the edge of the glass.
The aroma is nice and full smelling. There's some sweetness to it. I am getting a good coconut hit to the beer. There's a slight nutty aroma. There's a lot of dark chocolate notes and some caramel/toffee. Notes of vanilla and oak also hit my nose. Quite pleasing and well balanced.
The true test is the flavor. This beer is packed with it. There's a good barrel hit up front with oak and vanilla notes. The caramel and toffee hit next. There's a nutty flavor that also comes into play. There's lots of dark chocolate flavor and coconut in this beer. Very faint bitterness on the back.
This is one thick boy. Very thick. Very full bodied. Sticky, syrup feeling. There's really not much of a burn to the beer, but the thickness alone tells me to slow down.
Wow! This is one hell of a stout. Very well made. Very fun to drink. A pleasure to have had the opportunity to try.

16.9 ounce bottle, no dating that I noticed on it. Label says 14.4% ABV. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with maybe a quarter inch tan head after an aggressive pour. Head fizzled away quickly and there isn't much lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate fudge, pecans, coconut, and some roasted malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some burnt/charred malt and caramel flavors noticeable too. Leans sweeter tasting, and no one flavor overpowers the others. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's slick and rich with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this one a lot, certainly worth trying especially if you like big imperial stouts!

Virtually no head or lacing. Robust aroma of roast, whiskey, and some chocolate. Nice base stout beautifully wedded to 22 months of barrel flavors. Coconut just subtle enough. Pecans too subtle for my palate. A bit syrupy, but to be expected at this gravity.

bottle to snifter.

LK: motor oil black, shiny, thick, viscous, no head.
AR: cocoa, bourbon, raisin, coconut,
TA: boozy hot fudge, raspberry, blackberry, port
FL: thiccc, flat, smooth, hint of alcohol burn in finish,

Smooth sipping. A little bit of a sugar bomb, but there are some subtle notes of quality that make it more complex than that. Wish there was some hint of the pecan....i know pecan can get lost amongst bigger flavors, but I am a fan, so was hoping to taste or smell that...but I didn't. Maybe it's the small touch of bitterness that I sense cutting the sweetness.

Pours as black as ink with a tiny head that faded quickly and left zero lacing. Smells of dark chocolate, molasses, vanilla, burnt coffee, amaretto, bakers chocolate and hints off coconut. Taste is on the sweet side as there’s no major alcohol heat, but also no bourbon or oaky flavors. The most dominant aspects of the taste are the dark chocolates like cocoa, bakers chocolate, molasses, and then sour dark fruit, chocolate covered cherries, vanilla, charred grains, brown sugar or other sweeteners, some nutty aspects and faint coconut. It crossed the line on sweetness and was too light in the bourbon and pecans. It was good, but not worth $25 per bottle.

This is pretty awesome stuff. Super dark and thick exploding with coconut and bourbon flavers. I like boozy beer and this does not dissappoint. If I could make any changes, I'd make it a tad less sweet and a good bit less expensive. I think I prefer the Founders KBS barrel aged which goes for $23 a 4 pack by me. This beer is about 3x the cost per oz......

Bottle from OH FLX. A big heavy stout that is full of bold old ale flavors, some barrel, some stout. Delicious. Nose is faint. Appearance is a rich dark brew with ruby halo. No head or lacing.
Body is full and smooth but syrupy.
Overall a big stout brewed to excess.overall Enjoyed but too rich and too cloying/ thick to purchase again.

Hoping that this 500ML collab is better than most lower-common-denominator blah, but with these two I’m hopeful. Hope springs eternal!

The pour is dead black. No head. I could count the bubbles on two hands if I felt like it. The nose if full of creamed chocolate & creamy coconut. No barrel motes detected.

Triple Drupe – Barrel Aged is semi-congealed thick. First impression is of slick, oily, sweet mat of malts accented by the cocoa nibs with a touch of scorched roast mixed in. Heavy booze intrudes, with an ululating echo of bourbon that’s more…touched than tasted. Finish of light coconut. Advisable to have shared this enormous bottle with my wife or some other unsuspecting party.

Feels like a solid base of pastry stout that was stored somewhere near bourbon barrels & introduced to the additives over Skype. A good beer.

Bottle. Thick, black color.

Coconuts, pecan, bourbon dipped fudge. Vanilla and oak. Some charred barrel. Warming, smooth, sweet, dessert beer. I like these in 8 oz servings. Easy to drink and not super cloying for 14% pastry stout

poured from a 500mL bottle into a perennial snifter. pours light brown with no head. sharp whiskey barrel sting on the nose as well faint chocolate, even fainter coconut and a subdued nuttiness. taste is more of a choco-nutty flavor with a very strong barrel presence. medium-full mouthfeel with a slick, almost oily finish. not bad but i feel like the barrel shines or is the star hear. the base stout is decently constructed and the adjunct additions don’t really seem to pop.
