This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells quite charred, in a pleasant way, with lots of oak, a bit of vanilla, dark chocolate, roast, and coffee.
This isn’t a cloying sugar bomb, like so much from Other Half. It’s got just a ton of barrel, aggressively so, with tons of toastiness, oak, leathery bourbon, vanilla, coconut, milk and dark chocolate, and tons of heavily roasted malt. I wish Other Half made more beers like this – it’s really enjoyable.
This is pretty thick, creamy, and rich. It’s a slow sipper for sure.
When Other Half buckles down, they can make a good stout, if they just stopped being silly for a second.

This was hands down the best OH stout brewed. The PVW 23 year barrel shines. The stout is a beast, without gimmicks or dessert trendiness. Barrel trait is phenomenal with massive wood and flavors. Other recent PVW barrel stouts have been using the 10 year version. The difference from the 23 year is light years better. Anyone looking for a typical dessert type OH stout will be disappointed, but if you want a massive BA stout full of character, this is it. Anyone who didn’t try or buy missed out on a seriously world class beverage. BBT had nothing on this, IMHO.
