This rum barrel variant is aged in rum barrels for mix of 14-18 months and then treated with just coconut and a special rich toasted coconut called emperor's toasted coconut.

16.9 ounce bottle, no dating on it that I could find on the bottle or label. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with maybe a quarter inch tan head that didn't stick around for very long. Not much lacing. The brew smells mostly like rum, along with some coconut, roasted malt and caramel. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some chocolate, dark bread and some earthiness. Coconut seems stronger in the taste as compared to the aroma, and it's a sweeter tasting brew but not overpoweringly so. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's syrupy and slick with a low amount of carbonation. Not as boozy as I was expecting it to be considering the ABV. I thought this was a good overall brew, worth picking up especially if you like rum barrel aged brews and/or coconut.

Pours dark and thick. Great coconut aroma, a little boozy, nice rum fragrance. Flavor is interesting. I get chocolate and tangy pineapple, then toasted coconut, boozy rum barrel prob adds to the pineapple flavor. Rum barrel is delicious. Minimal carbonation, very viscous. Overall a delicious Snowbird variant.

On tap at DC. The rum tastes like rubbing alcohol or very low quality booze. Very off putting. This is worse than the snowbirds 7 which I wasn’t super impressed with. A boozy mess with little coconut. It does have a tropical flavor. Pineapple somehow showing.

Edit: As it warms, it gets much better. Not sure what’s goin on here.
