A hazy IPA brewed with the folks at GIANT. Citra, Mosaic, Cashmere hops give notes of tropical fruit, sweet orange, mango, and berry punch.

Now that the pint can's contents are completely emptied into a clear glass liter mug, thus can be observed. The color of the liquid is dark yellow-amber. It's dull and quite opaque. A modest off-white head was produced by the pour. There's only some piney hops to smell. This looks and smells like a barley malt deprived modern American IPA. The color, opaqueness and lack of a solid and complex aroma gives it away. That is what the taste gives. It's sharply, almost astringently hoppy, with strong pine and citrus notes. That's not a problem. The problem is this lacks any counterbalance to the hops by its oat/wheat backbone. There's no complexity added to the taste by the starches, just some shallow sweetness. As there's likely sufficient oats in the wort, the body doesn't suffer as much as the taste. This might pass as an acceptable West Coast IPA, as the only thing it brings is a noticeable sharp hop bite. However, that's a slight to good WCIPAs that have better balances. There's some nice stratified glass lacing, but not enough to turn this into a winner.
