Valemount 18/7 2018. 35,5 cl can from the Wine Merchant in Jasper. A shop sporting a bizarre range of beers so why not a Blueberry Vanilla Ale?! A somber cow on the can.
Pours clear amber with a medium-sized pink head. Settles as a thin almost transparent layer of foam crawling up the side of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is intensely sweet and somewhat artificial. Air refresher from the toilet, white sugar, vanilla extract and edelweiss.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery texture.
Flavor is heavy sweet. Almost no bitterness present. Aftertaste is sweet and cloying.
A pretty unpleasant experience unless you are into putting those things you use to camouflage the natural odors of a toilet visit into your mouth. No tart fruitiness from berries only artificial vanilla.

Poured with a couple inches of head. Clear tan / caramel colour had a few carbonated legs. Smells fruity and sweet. Taste the vanilla. Very smooth and easy to drink. Great served very cold. Enjoying this beer so far over the winter.

355ml can poured into tulip.
Pours a clear, pale rosy pink with half a finger of pink-tinged head that leaves decent sudsy lace as it recedes.
Smells of cold blueberry pie, crisp grainy pale malt, some soft vanilla sweetness and a touch of mild leafy hops.
Tastes of blueberry jam on white bread, more mild dry vanilla, and more gentle green hops.
Feels light and soft. Light bodied with frothy carbonation. Finishes off-sweet.
Verdict: Recommended. Light and tasty, great if you're thirsty.

i have honestly dabbled in quite a few various beers. i really enjoy a variety of beers including the cheap beers! and this beer is honestly the worst thing i have ever had. i actually made this account to right this review because it is SO BAD! i would never recommend this to anyone. i dont know why it was in the jasper brewing hot summer mix pack. i guess its the only way they could get their beer to be consumed by the masses.
anyways. worst beer ever. hands down. im just sad i could rate a zero. sorry guys

The combo of vanilla + blueberry results in something akin to vanilla-blueberry ice cream, and that's the flavour I get most strongly here--a nice malty base beer, bready-caramel, with a fairly muted vanilla-blueberry character that doesn't go too over-the-top. Texture and carbonation are interesting; full body, but carbonation-wise you could almost convince me this was nitro-poured. A nice beer, though not transformative.

1L howler from Wine and Beyond - I'm sure that this is similar to the blueberry vanilla ale from Jasper Brewing, but hey, different brewer, different brew, eh?
This beer pours a hazy, bright medium salmon-tinged copper amber colour, with two skinny fingers of weakly puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat bubbly dirty white head, which leaves some imminent iceberg collision lace around the glass as it quickly sinks away.
It smells of semi-sweet, grainy caramel malt, sort of tart black berries (which could be blueberries, I suppose), a weird earthy yeastiness, mildly dry vanilla - like a pod extracted from that homemade flavoured vodka - and faint weedy, leafy, and herbal hop notes. The taste is big on the grainy vanilla up front, in collusion with the bready caramel for their sweetness cartel, with a sort of understated blueberry ice cream thing, and more weak leafy, weedy, and earthy hop bitters.
The carbonation is quite active in its mouth-expanding frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and generally smooth, with a wee fruity acerbity nosing around, just looking for a place to take a shit. It finishes well off-dry, the vanilla, caramel, and still lesser fruitiness keepin' 'er tight.
Overall, not a bad flavoured ale, the twin guest ingredients doing well by themselves, with the vanilla certainly the more prominent player. Easy to drink, refreshing, and worth having a go at, in whatever Bear Hills location you happen to find yourself.
