750 ml bottle into a tulip glass. Quickly, as the bottle was gushing. Every BBB bottle I've had has done this. Come on, guys.
Anyway. Appearance is a cloudy straw color with a pretty hefty effervescent head. The head dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing, as is typical for the style.
Tons of pear on the aroma, with some lighter citrus; namely lime and orange. There's a faint idea of grass and funk as well as earthy oak chips. If you let the beer warm up a bit, there's some subtle spicy rye notes.
The flavor starts off with some grass, hay and funk, but is followed by a surprising wave of sweetness: Canned pears, lime zest, orange marmalade, bubblegum and vanilla. There's the foggiest idea of spiciness on the finish.
The feel is medium bodied with moderately high carbonation. A bit too soft for the style. Has a dry finish.
Overall, this was an enjoyable farmhouse ale. It's not overly complex, and the taste is far more fruity and sweet than expected, but it's still a fine beer.
