On tap at Right Proper Brewing Company in Washington, DC.

Pours a murky golden-orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, white grape juice, earth, and yeast aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, white grape juice, earth, and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of earth and spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with an interesting white grape juice presence in both the smell and taste.

Serving type: on tap.

On tap at brewpub:
Listed as being an "interpretation of a post-war strong Belgian Saison"

Look is a very pale orange that has an accompanying haze that might be darkening the look. Head is small bubbled and layered as seen from the side of the glass. Settling it becomes foamy, and does last a bit, providing some lacing.

Nose is strangely absent early. Eventually a somewhat sweet pear scent comes. Then I get a strawberry-banana note comes to my nose.

The beer itself initially seemed a bit sweet. It calmed on that front eventually, combining with the dryer ending. Overall this is still on the sweeter side of saison, I think. Initial notes are apple and pear combined with herbal notes that are in almost equal portions. Carbonation is lively and sort of provides a palate cleanse as the beer drifts into a woody, dry, more farmhouse like saison. The ending keeps a light herbasciousness to the end.

This beer grew on me as I drank it. My initial impressions of sweetness might have been influenced slightly by other recent beers. That said, it's still not an interpretation of the style I would go for again.

From notes. On tap:

The beer was a light clear amber color with a thin white head. Not well retained but did leave a nice ring and had nice lacing.  Nice amount of carbonation rising to the top. The beer gave off a nice sweet fruity aroma. The beer had a good flavor dry with herbal hops. The beer had a light feel with good carbonation. Overall, a good beer, but would be better, in my opinion, if less dry and less bitter.

Draft at the source. Hazy, straw yellow body with a thick, dense white cap. Belgian yeast, citrus zest, Saaz hops. Light floral notes, prominent yeast, a hint of funk. Nicely balanced. Light to medium bodied. Dry finish. Another solid beer from Right Proper.
