Poured on tap at Shaw pub into a pint glass.

Creamy tan one finger head with sheets of lacing, cascading down to meet a dark walnut brown simple opaque body.

Aroma hits with lots of powdered cocoa, light grains and toasty malts. Soft roast quality and no sense of coffee, but very rich and inviting.

Palate brings things back to earth. Chewy and rich chocolate malt with touches of biscuit quality. Dense body for a schwarzbier, with a milky coating. Minimal herbal quality with some on the finish.

A very neat Schwarzbier but takes liberty with the style.

Right Proper

Shawbecker Schwarzbier

A: Pours an opaque black, with a beige head that leaves a lot of sticky lace. No visible carbonation. As I drink down the 8oz half pour of a mini snifter the true color really shines. More of a translucent, brown iced tea color.

S: Right up front nice dry, big nutty aromas. A hint of toasted bread.

T: Semi sweet flavor profile of nuts, a touch of bitter cocoa.

M: Light bodied, semi dry on the finish and a good amount of carbonation.

D: Highly drinkable with dry nutty flavors all around. Very nice and enjoyable, American made Schwarzbier.
