definitely not enough eisbocks being produced especially here in the states, and more specifically here in colorado. this might be the first one i have had from here. its pretty solid too, one of the better rock yard beers i have had overall, and this whole series of bigger beers from them has been head turning and adventurous. looks medium amber to light brown in color, reddish glow in the right light. the head is foamy and tan, short but dense and lasting. it smells and tastes great, a little sweetness still to the malt, some sort of sugar spike, candy sugar maybe, i get maple and molasses, brown sugar, apple juice, raisin and dried date, bready yeast, and a whole bunch of booze. there is a lot going on for sure, like an autumnal casserole of grain flavors, powerful but not overwhelming, and really pretty well integrated and balanced. of course its a little sweet, and of course its boozy, thats part of what this style is, but even these elements dont seem overdone to me. lots of body, a little oxidation at this point, and warming mulling spice sort of finish. definitely winter beer, but its pretty tasty and quite original. one of the best beers i have had from rock yard to date. we need more eisbocks!

This was not quite as impressive as last year's 18% offering. Poured a medium brown with a decent tan head. The nose had rich malts, candy and dark fruits. Taste somewhat mild for the style, but good sweet malt structure along with dried cherries and figs. Full body goes down well. This goes down well for the strength.

This was a collaboration batch from the Colorado Brewers Guild. Had this at the Maintou Lager fest, but was drinking not evaluating there

Poured amber with about a pinky of white head. Effervescent throughout with good head retention & lacing

S: Malt sweetness & some maple syrup

T: Maple candy, breadyness & a little rock candy up front. Some doughyness & a little booze as this warms. Finishes dry, sweet (honey & more maple) & a little doughy

MF: Chewy, vinous & nearly no carbonation

Drank very easy for the style. Shame this isn't a fixture
