Large brewpub in the vein of BJs with a curved bar that seats 15 or 20 to the left of the entrance and loads of tables about the dining room. A dozen beers on tap, the IPA I had was solid. I also had the pork green chili which was very nice.

Highway pull off in Castle Rock between Colorado Springs and Denver. What a find. Large packed area, with many tables and large room in the bar area. About 8-10 beers on tap, available in a pick yourself sampler. The beers are really tasty, top to bottom. Pub fare, plus a southwest menu. The green chili burrito was killer. If you find yourself on the highway between these two cities, definitely sit by.

this is an interesting place. ive had a bunch of their beers, all bottles, from different liquor stores where they get some limited distribution, but had never made it down. perched up on the hill there, it has a ski lodge meets an old perkins restaurant vibe inside. lots of potential, vaulted ceilings and wood, but sort of laid out like a diner and rather sterile. lots of space though, and its busy on a week day afternoon. they had several beers on, as many as ten, with all of their flagship stuff and a few seasonals. i only had time for one beer, and i got the lynx light lager, which i actually really enjoyed. would like to go back for the doppelbock. the service was crummy. she wasnt slow or anything, but she could not possibly care less, totally disinterested, looks almost depressed or something, kind of a drag really. i had a steak salad that wasnt bad or good, just sort of neutral sustenance rather than an enjoyable meal, but i ordered conservatively and the other food leaving the kitchen looked really good. the best part was a light lager, which is either really good or really bad, but i left this place thinking i wasnt in a hurry to get back in...

Good food, good service and good beer. Not only do they brew their own beer on the premise but they also serve low-gluten beer from a local brewery and mead beer from another one. I tried their Redhawk Ale and Double Eagle Ale and thought both were worth getting again (if I ever came back to Colorado).

A - Awesome atmosphere! Tons of TVs in the bar... It's always full of people, but you can always get a table!

Q - Quality always seems to be high... Brews are consistent and of high quality. Brew pubs like this are very hard to come by, the only other place in the state that's better would be Oskar Blues.

S - Never have had bad service, this is me and my dad's go-to place for lunch, it's consistently good.

S - Great brew selections, there is always around eight brews to choose from and i've never had a bad brew, by the way, i've visited over a dozen times...

F - Onion rings and Jalapeno soup are to die for... But, You can never go wrong with a burger or the Club and Soup combo...

Solid and consistent. A great meeting place or place to relax enjoy a brew and a game.

Went on 3/9 with a buddy on our way to our ski trip.

A - Definitely more of a restaurant feel then a brewpub or brewery. Atmoshphere was so-so. We cozied up to the bar to watch some basketball and to be able to talk to the bartender about the beers. Not lively at all - pretty quiet, cozy, family feel.

Q - Beers were so-so. I tried 3 of them - the IPA (good), Red Ale (flat), stout (so-so). The IPA was actually pretty good. Nice floral and citrus notes. Nice head that left lacing. The Red Ale had no head, little carbonation and tasted flat. Stout was similar. Not too impressed. Food was good which brought up the score to a 3.5.

S - Good service, nothing outstanding. Bartender was semi-friendly, kinda drab.

S - Not a great selection of beer in my opinion. Nice selection of food. Just so-so.

F - Food was the highlight here. We got an appetizer sampler that was good and I got the green chile burrito with rice / beans. Fantastic. My buddy got the enchiladas which he loved too. Good food here.

V - Not too pricy. Come for the food, have an IPA and you'll be happy...

Would I go back? With all of the other great choices in Colorado, probably not.

This is one of those random brewpubs I'd been meaning to stop by for years. Unless you live in Castle Rock or travel between Denver and Co. Springs, it's easy to forget about it.
The facility looks like a big barn with wood paneling. Pretty strange as it blurs the line between a pretty nice place and a really casual place. In think it might be because the floor isn't carpeted? I dunno. A big bar stretches across the middle of the restaurant which seems to separate the table and booth areas.
A quick glance at the menu shows that they cover a lot of bases. Burgers, grilled meat, BBQ, pasta, and even Mexican food. Luckily there aren't too many items on there or I'd fear that they were stretched too thin.
Service was solid. We got our drink orders in right away, refils were prompt, and the food was quick, too.
We ordered two burgers with different toppings and couldn't have been happier with the results. They were grilled just right, they were big, and the toppings were fresh. The fries were terrific, too. The nachos that were shuffling about looked appetizing as well.
What about the beer, right? I started with the Poacher's Pale Ale which was a fresh hop ale. While nothing earth shattering, it was good. My wife got the bourbon barrel stout, which had a ton of flavor, but wasn't overwhelmingly boozy at only 6%. I finished with the red, which was a pretty typical example of the style. Again, nothing amazing, but no real flaws either. I guess their Double Eagle Wheat is a big award winner, but I'm not a big fan of the style.
The food was good, the beers were solid, and I like that they've also been selling mini-kegs of their beer at the restaurant and around town. It's a good idea.

If you're in the area or passing through - give the Rockyard a shot. This is probably a good place to take people who are new to the idea of craft beer. They're brewing styles that are approachable without being dumbded down.

EDIT: In the last year or so I've noticed that their beers have gotten better/bolder and they're starting to do smaller batches and bottle more, too. I think like a lot of places they're embracing the beer geek community a bit more.

Went here this past weekend with a few buddies and was impressed.

Atmosphere was nice and a bit on the upscale side. More of a nice restaurant than a brewing co. or a bar.

Quality of food and beer was good. I had the amber, IPA and stout and all tasted very good IMO.

Our server was quick on refills and making sure we were all happy.

Selection is awesome. They have all styles of beers, which is sure to please any beer drinker. Food selection was insane. Menu was huge with offerings from typical pub-grub to seafood. Prices were about average.

Overall a cool hangout with a nice location right off the freeway.

Nice Atmosphere. Quality is pretty good. I would like to see some HDTV's in this place. They do have a projector screen, but HD would make this place ROCK!!!!

Service was nice waitress took very good care of us.

Selection is enormous, their is a ton of different types of foods to eat. From Burgers to Burritos.

Food is great I had a bacon cheddar burger which was enormous. I would also recommend the onion rings.

Value for 3 of us with the big $18 app. 6 quality beers and food. $77 plus tip.

I would recommend this place, plus $3 brews during sports home games. And they are still pints!!!!

Drove here from CO Springs on a recent visit. Located just off I25 not to terribly far from Aurora..WAYNES WORLD!! PARTY TIME!!. Nice place, nice tables, liked the high ceilings. They had six different brews on tap at the time I visited. Beer was typical of most brewpubs. Service was average I suppose. The waitress did not seem to know much about beer but she was young too. I liked the place overall and would go back if in the area, but very close to the area. Not worth an hour plus drive to get too if you know what i mean.

Rockyard has that fairly typical big brewpub design, lots of wood, super-high ceiling, not all that comfy while trying to deliver the illusion of comfort. Not bad at all, just nothing special.
Food is fairly traditional "American Grill" bar food, just as their name suggests. Good mix of food, but nothing new here. Had the Colorado Wrap, which was tasty, and their Pork Green Chili is actually quite good.
The beer--fairly typical mix. They have the standard menu brews (Light Lager, Wheat Ale, Pilsener, Amber, Stout, IPA) and had a seasonal Oktoberfest.
Sampled them all--each one was perfectly fine, nothing special, yet not bad. The Wheat was nice and full bodied/full flavored, and the Pils had a nice hop bite and citrus/grassy flavors.
A perfectly average brewpub, don't go out of your way,but stop in if you're in the area.

Castle Rock, on the far southern fringe of Metro Denver, is a bizzare craftbeer site-to-visit if you're a die hard beerfly. Bubbles Liqour Mart (a 4.5+ beer store) and Rockyard Brewing are within shouting distance of each other. Maybe that doesn't make for a pilgrimage, but it's still a fun visit, especially since Rockyard is a solid American brewpub.

They say they're an "American grill," and they're not lying. Rockyard embodies the American brewpub motif with a cavernous dining room, nice bar area, family-friendly section, and many, many televisions tuned to every sports event imaginable. They had seven beers on tap when I visited, including their five flagship brews and two seasonals: a marzen and a honey lager. I sampled five of the seven brews, finding all of them to be tasty, if not exceptional beers. The Hopyard IPA and the Double Eagle American wheat are especially strong for year-round standards, and it's not hard to imagine the Double Eagle as a go-to beer for Castle Rock residents.

The food--pure brewpub--and service were both fine. All told, this is a clean, standard brewpub with no bells or whistles about it. Decent beer. Decent food. Friendly service.

It's certainly worth a stop if only to support the Colorado craft brew scene.

While living in Castle Rock I have only visited the Rockyard on a couple of occasions since it was built. I had the samler the first time and this time had the Hopyard IPA. Overall a good place to go. Loud and they took out the pooltables but it has a big bar and a good selection of food from standard American to Mexican and some pasta selections. One big projection screen tv and a small selection of smaller tv's in the "lounge" area. Nice patio, but it was closed on our visit. Beer is good but wouldn't take it home. All beers available in Growlers, Kegs, Party Pigs, and draft. Prices are reasonable and overall good. I reckamend the "Colorado Burger".

My girlfriend and I pass from the Springs to Denver quite often and always found ourselves too busy to stop in Castle Rock. We finally dropped in and were very happy with this "find". The place is nice and clean and cool when the sun was "blazing" at about 80 degrees outside. The first thing you notice when coming in besides the tall ceilings and industrial style ventilation system are the brewery souvenirs (shirts, growlers, glassware, etc.) The setup was nice, dark wood tables and bar. Several monitors and onelarge projection screen with multiple sports channels played without seeming too noisy or busy. The beer was good, but nothing to get excited about. I did choose a pint of the Lightning Strike Porter after a quick taste test. The burgers were better than great. We had the Colorado and Hawaiian burgers and could not remember having such a tasty and fresh lunch.
I'd imagine it would be a very fun place to stop by with a group after skiing.

Located just off Interstate 25 in Castle Rock, it's very easy to find.
Inside is an open floor through out with only a beautiful rock hearth to separate the bar area from the restaurant seating. A tall vaulted ceiling with stained wooden planks rounds out the very comfortable mountain lodge type atmosphere. The dedicated bar area has fifteen or so stools and several tables.

So, here we are at the Rockyard on a cold, snowy, windy night in mid October, sitting next to the hearth.... What to do ? Drink the beer, of course ! We ordered samplers of all the beers on tap, they were solidly average craft brews with no off flavors or notable defects. After sampling the brews I ordered a pint of the Lightning Strike Stout which hit the spot on this blustery evening. The wife went for a pint of the Double Eagle Wheat Ale which is her favorite style.
The bottom line ? Great winter time atmosphere, decent but no stand out brews which are $4 a pint.

I was travelling with a friend and saw this place on a whim, so decided to stop by. The atmosphere is quite average, although the place is pretty big from the inside with high ceilings. The booths are deep and comfy and allow for comfortable conversation. Our service was pretty decent. It seemed the waier forgot about us towards the end of the meal, but then we noticed he just got hit with a large table. The food was decent enough...we had the steak and chicken fajitas which was good, but average. The beer selection was average as well with 6 of their beers on tap. I had the sampler which consisted of (6) 6oz brews for $6. The beer was uniformly good, slightly better than average. The light lager and wildcat wheat were the best, and the IPA was pretty bad, not very drinkable. I would come here again if it was convienant but I wouldn't necessarily seek it out.

Great oasis between COS & denver. They run a shuttle buss between there & invesco field for broncos home games,

I've had lunch & dinner, just seems these folks round here are burdened by their high income levels??? Doesn't remind me of munchen in late september??

Always had good service

Some good beers some, some duds lack of head retention is an issue across the full range of beers

BEST green chille I've had in CO, barr none, the rest of the
food, good

Except for their bourbon stout, IPA, & Green Chille & who cares???!!??

I met the brewmaster, Jim Stinson, on my visit here today - a very nice, knowledgable man! He takes notes on all his brews and tries to make adjustments to improve his product. I have met many loca brewmasters, and Jim is a standout. I would put his beers up against any brewery in Colorado, including Avery, Belgian and Bristol. This is a great place for lunch or dinner - the food is very good. My personal choice among the beers is the Hopyard Ale or the Double Eagle Ale - you won't be disappointed! (I even tried mixing them, to get a more balanced, less dry, yet pleasingly hoppy brew - and it worked. Don't laugh - try it!)
