330 ml. from JMBSH. Pours reddish tinge with thin retained white head. Aroma is rich malty, boozy. Above average mouthfeel. Rich malt, some hops, and barleywinish. Boozy, reasonable drinkability. More of an American strong.Slightly biere de garde spicy aftertaste.

Saw this one at Lukas for $6.99 per 12 ounce bottle. Looked interesting, had to try it. Poured a deep garnet color, with a little bit of off-white foam. Mostly bourbon, oak and caramel on the nose. Palate is similar, with a nice pronounced bourbon flavor. I really enjoy it when brewers move past the imperial stouts with the bourbon aging. Pretty enjoyable.

The 10th anniversary double redhawk ale that is barrel aged. Arrived a darker red hue that is mostly clear. A soft white head but limited retention and lacing during the tasting.
The nose has a nice caramel note that just dominates the aroma. A rich complexity that is similar to a wee heavy. Noticeable wood and vanilla notes. There is a bourbon like aroma. They don't list what the barrel is but I would bet that that is what it is. Some light yeasty notes but very clean mostly. Some light heat but again very clean.
The taste is more on par with a red. A super malt aroma with a big caramel flavor. Some sugary notes as well, almost a brown sugar like taste that lingers with the super caramel note. The wood notes back off in the taste but the bourbon notes are more distinct. Lingers into the finish and creates an alcohol flavor in the finish. Some yeasty notes but very clean. There is a light hoppy note, more of a citrus appeal but very light. Would have liked a bit more to come out but might have covered some of the wood notes too.
The body is malty and closer to full than moderate. Surprised how clean it is for a 10% beer. Way too easy to drink. Overall a pretty tasty beer. Has that boarderline wee heavy feel but the American hop notes make it distinctly a US red.
