Pours a dark amber color with a sticky, thick head. Good lacing.
Very malty aroma: caramel and molasses. Slightly spicy hop aroma.
Taste comes across like a mixture of alcohol-laced graham crackers. Rather sweet with a cinnamon undertone. Alcohol burn is rather noticeable.
A fair doppelbock. A bit too treacly and above average alcohol notes. Certainly drinkable, but average at best for the style.

Pours with a tall foamy cap in the Weizen glass. Dark amber color. Not so much aroma.
Rather bitter. Dark fruity flavors. It makes me think of an Old Ale more than a Doppelbock. More dry than sweet. Quite tart as you sip. Hints of coffee, banana, toffee. Bitter aftertaste. Buttery and the slightest bit acrid. Quite strong, which seems to accentuate the peculiar flavors.
From the four-pack of 12 oz bottles. This is just strange and I can't relate it to any "normal" dark wheat beer. Seems to get worse as I sip and I keep dropping the score. One of my favorite styles but not a good example.

Poured on tap several different sessions. Dark brown, clear, with initially a good head that dissipates quickly. Average to decent lacing.
Scent is mildly earthy, malty, caramel.
tastes like earth, malt, caramel, with a light oak, and the sweetness of some brown sugar.
Medium body, crisp, sweet during, dry after.
Overall pretty good. Alcohol is somewhat hidden. Nice malty beer.

Not a huge fan of this brewery, but after seeing bottles of this one for a $1.99, I had to give it a shot. Poured a clear, dark golden color with a minimal amount of off-white foam. Aromas of bourbon, oak and dark brown sugar. On the palate, medium bodied and crisp, with red apples, brown sugar and a hint of oak. Very good.
