June '17 - a bronzed finish, almost red with a nice ring of foam. Light malty nose. Simple clean malty taste. Likened to an english pale., more classic. Tasty malt too. Nicely pulled together.

12 oz bottle. Pours light golden amber with a small fizzy white head that goes to a thin film that leaves little lacing.
The aroma is sweet fruity caramel malt with some grassiness and a little peat.
The flavor is sweet vegetal malts with a little grassy peat. The mouthfeel is a bit thin and watery.
Overall, not very good.

I didn't really get the flavors that the label promised me on this one. Instead of a malty, nutty red, I got a straight amber with a pretty metallic aftertaste. They were likely going for a lighter version of the style anyway, given the 5% ABV, but it didn't quite hit the mark for me.

Very clear reddish copper body but the head fizzed away very quickly. Warm, toasty grain aroma. Light malt flavors with a stronger hop bitterness throughout, especially at the finish. Medium-light body yet it still seems somewhat thin and watery; crisp, dry finish.
A pretty mediocre Scottish ale (that's the style shown on the label). Virtually no head or lacing really detracts from the appearance, but worse yet is a pretty flat and uninspired malt profile with a tea-like aftertaste.

Poured from an undated bottle into a stange glass.
Pours with three fingers of light tan head that slowly falls to a scrappy layer on the surface. The body is almost exactly copper in color, and is very clear.
Smells of toasted barley and a little hint of hop bitterness and a faint touch of peat. Simple aroma.
Perhaps a little light on flavor, what I do taste reminds me of an American-style red ale more than a Scottish ale. Caramel, crystal malt, and a kiss of fruity simple hops. Not much in the way of deeper more complex malts and smoky tones often found in Scottish ales.
The mouthfeel is rather light and fizzy. Not a whole lot of character.
Conclusion: I was expecting more from this beer because the label states it is a Scottish ale. What it seems to be is a rather generic American red ale (in line with Killian's Irish red), which isn't bad, it just isn't what I was led to believe it would be.

A: Pours no head at all. Colour is a semitransparent dark copper.
Sm: Malt. That's it. This is shaping up to be pretty boring.
T: Lightly toasted malt forms the foundation. Some light caramel sits atop, but that's pretty much the entirety of the flavours. It's very simple indeed. Clean and pleasant. Decently balanced and built alright. No alcohol comes through.
Mf: Somewhat coarse. Wet. Entirely too thick for the absence of flavour.
Dr: Drinkable but forgettable. Too simple and low quality to be good.
