Wildcat White Ale

Pours a hazy, gold color. Two inch head of a white color. Great retention and slight lacing. Smells of wheat, pale malt, sweet malt, hops, and a hint of clove. Fits the style of a Hefeweizen. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with a high carbonation level. Tastes of wheat, sweet malt, slight hop, hint of pale malt, and a hint of coriander. Overall, decent appearance, good aroma, and blend.

Crisper, cleaner, and less bready than the typical Hefeweizen, Wildcat Wheat has a very zesty and refreshing overall character that makes this one worth seeking out.

Pouring a vibrantly carbonated decent into the glass, an abundance of zesty champagne-like bubbles build a loose white head that struggles for half the session. Moderately hazed, the beer is actually less cloudy than expected. With no lace, the beer just doesn't look like classy Hefeweizens.

Grainy sweetness, light must, clove, and banana are all present in the nose, along with a light acetone scent. The well-balanced scent reminds me of banana-flavored Runtz candies.

The well-balanced character follows suit in flavor as well. Through light on actual wheat malt, the fruity esters of banana, apple, lemon, and papaya balance very well agains the clove, pepper, and lightly grassy hops. The beer seemingly gets richer as it warms and the carbonation subsides. Grainy-sweet throughout, the lack of wheat malt doesn't bother me much in this flavor profile.

Bready, crisp, and lightly creamy- the beer has more of an overall ale-like character and less creamy and richly textured as normal for Hefeweizens. But with a lighter body, the crisp, clean and refreshing character is easy to achieve. Shying away from grainy textures, watery, or astringency, the beer serves as a great summer refresher. Minty cool in alcohol, the finish is accompanied with a light vanilla and grain flavor and feel.

This would be an absolute home-run of a Hefeweizen if more wheat malt were used. But the lack of it limits the beer in character and richness. Sad, because all other aspects of the beer are quite solid!

Enjoyed as part of a sampler. Pours out to a cloudy pale golden, forming a mdoest white head with average retention and lacing. Aroma is redolent with lots of pink bubblegum...no cloves or bananas. The taste is of moderately strong green bananas, light toast, mild coriander?, and some mild herbal bitterness. The finish is toasty as well with a medium body and moderate carbonation. The finish has some distant yeasty notes hanging in there as well as toast. Doesn't really taste like a witbier, but is drinkable nonetheless and I would have it again, but a pint would be plenty.

Pours golden with some haze that settled out fast, producing a nice 2fingers+ white head. Head retention & lacing were very good

Huge wheat & slight peppery accents give way to cloves

Taste; spicy pepper gives way to wheat malt. Finishes estery & thirst quenching

MF: Medium with good carbonation

Drinks very well for its 5.2abv. Worth a try to be sure!
