750 ml bottle, poured into a nucleated teku at ~40 degrees F.
L: Pours a cloudy, opaque dark ruddy-gold clover honey, and forms a couple fingers of off-white foam with decent retention.
S: Very tea. Very, very tea, in fact, There's a tinge of herbaceousness, and some caramel and bread malts in the backdrop, but this is primarily tea in the nose.
T: Not unlike the nose, at least right up front. This is a red rooibos tea that just happened to be steeped slowly in beer, as opposed to relatively quickly in water. While the tea notes remain strong throughout, other notes emerge as the tasting goes along - faint acetic vinegar, caramel, distant oranges and nectarines, a touch of vinousness. Red grape emerges as it warms.
F: Medium, fairly lively.
O: Interesting, if perhaps a bit one-dimensional with the tea flavors front and center throughout.
