Sampled at the SingleSpeed brewery, Waterloo, IA; served in a snifter. Deep reddish-brown in color, with a light tan head and ruby highlights. Roasty, with notes of char, cocoa, and espresso bean in an unexpectedly light-bodied stout. These flavors remain prominent on the palate all the way through to the finish. The brewer lists this as a "session milk stout" at 3.1% ABV. Would I want to "session" it? Probably not. Still, this is a good one.

Aroma is coffee hint of the bottom of a coffee filter and mild chocolate. The flavor is coffee/hint of coffee filter, dark malts, mild chocolate and an acidic finish.

Looks dark but not quite opaquely black. Head could use some better retention. Smell is cocoa, slight coffee, chocolate malt; delightful. Flavor is rich and full but bitter enough to balance out the sweetness. Mouthfeel is where so many of these

Can from John’s poured into SingleSpeed tulip. Bountiful head, especially for a session. Also impressive roasty full flavor.
