served up on nitro, this is a beautiful beer, coal black and creamy headed, with perfect lace rings demarcating each sip. huge coffee aroma, i wonder what local coffee they use. it must be a cold brew added, as there is no acidity here at all and all of that chocolate concentrated coffee goodness, earthy and even a little sweet for a second. the malt base is awesome too, skipping the caramel malty middle, this goes right to black, with a ton of roast and char notes to it, a great platform for the coffee, and i suspect some oats too, as this is creamy beyond the nitrogen. just a really well built glass of beer, and a great feature of this obviously high quality coffee. the nitro seems to dissipate a little quicky, maybe i took too long with this pint, but by the last half of it, its near flat and the nitro creaminess is gone. it still tastes awesome a little warmer, even more coffee, but it doesnt quite have the same feel, so drink up quick! overall this is really good, a big step up from the tin whiskers beers i had a year or so ago, and really one of the better coffee beers of any persuasion brewed locally in the twin cities. this really impressed me, the malt and coffee relationship here is special. great brew!

Pours a very dark brown, almost black. Smells like a milk chocolate mocha, toasty grains. Tastes like a less sweet, milk chocolate mocha. Creamy finish.
