Bought from The City Beer Store in San Francisco.
This would do the trick in winter of providing a lighter variation of dark; but this comes from Seattle, probably making it a nine month beer. With curious can artwork, I'm impressed with this beer's overall innovation.
Hopfen Schwarz Looks the part of the dark lager with sufficient lace sticking around. Smells are mostly malt; I detect few hops... although the brewer's can calls the Monroe hops sassy, like Marilyn. Tastes are balanced; so either sassy worked or some mystery beyond my pay-scale has been applied. Bubbles are good in this medium-mouthed lager.
Lowercase in 2019 won 6 Washington beer awards and five of them gold for mid-sized brewers. Not bad for a sever year old. Like most micros, they are struggling through the pandemic. But for having done so well before it, I give them some pretty damn good Overall Hugs.
