Coolship Cooled 100% NY ingredient wild Farmhouse Ale. The aroma dances between fruity funky yeast & lemon/pine hop notes with little to no hop presence in the taste. Slightly tart, soft & lemony.

12.7oz bottle purchased from the fridge as a single for $8.99 plus tax.
Look: Pours a very light straw color with a faint haze. Effervescent, tiny bubbles are quickly rising up the glass. An aggressive pour yielded a two-finger white, frothy, meringue-like head with very compact bubbles. The head slowly reduced to a quarter-finger. Beautiful lacing.
Smell: A lot of different aromas going on here. Up front, there's a big lemon tartness. There is some barnyard funk, medicinal notes, and oaky notes. The nose has a subtle creaminess to it, almost vanilla-like. The finish has some spicy notes - clove and pepper and grassy hop notes.
Taste: Very nice balance of tart up front, transitioning to a crisp, dry, slightly tannic finish. This is a very well-crafted, refreshing wild ale. There is this subtle sweetness that comes through after the bittering subsides, which could be from the honey and microflora. The medicinal notes also linger on the palate, and in general they are not my favorite, but all the elements are working together here in perfect harmony to create a beautiful symphony.
Feel: The mouthfeel is super crisp and soft. Carbonation is perfect. Very refreshing and delicious.
Overall: My first Plan Bee beer. I was very excited to see this in my area. I'm not sure if this is actually distributed to PA; however, the beer store owner mentioned that he took a trip up to Plan Bee recently, and I wonder if he brought back some of their beer to sell at his store. This is a lovely beer and I am glad that I got to try it. I normally am not a fan of beers that have this much barnyard funk and medicinal notes, but the beer is just so well-balanced and flavorful that it really just all works together. This is an excellent food beer - would be wonderful to drink this beer with a cheese board or something like fish & chips.
From the website:
NYS organic 6-row barley & organic red wheat grown @ Stone House Farms (Hudson, NY), barley malted @ Hudson Valley Malt (Germantown, NY). Hopped with Perle from Crooked Creek (Poughquag, NY) & Chinook from Chimney Bluff (Wolcott, NY). Fermented with our house mixed culture from our raw honey and honeycomb on the farm (Poughkeepsie, NY). Coolship cooled and fermented in oak. Lemon/pine hop notes. Subtly tart, soft, & lemony. white oak. Juicy & satisfying, dances btw fruity & funky yeast.
Food Pairing: This Saison is best paired with curried dishes or with fish, and also goes great with earthy style cheeses such as Camembert and Fontina or nutty style cheeses such as Asiago.

foaming farmhouse this is, micro flora makes for lively sparkling taste, supporting the freshness. Altogether worth trying , though nothing spectacular. Honeyish residue.

Purchased after recommendation from James at One Stop. Have let beer rest in 50 degree cellar for about 8 months, and brought out today to finally try it. Very happy with recommendation.
Poured a beautiful large white head that dissipated to a solid 1/8 inch surface body with perfect full glass lacing throughout the session. Impressive. Body was a dirty straw yellow with a nice glow to backlight from sun. Nose was nicely full and complex. Again straw, green hay, more lime than lemon, funk. Taste mirrored. The Chinook was more noticeable. Some saltiness merged in. Definitely barnyard experience with notes of funk and citrus. Body was a pleasing light but still tongue bright carbonation. I thought the body was a bit maltier and somewhat heavy for a wild ale. Not bad but just a bit out of place for me. Overall very enjoyable “as advertised” barn beer with interestingly novel nose and taste from the local terroir hops and grains. Glad I tried, and will seek Plan B again.

Bought this at a gas station (albeit one with a great beer selection). This is a good wild ale. Light and fizzy on the tongue, quite tart, and with some funk and herbs. Not a huge ABV, but you have to drink it slow for all its flavor.
Would be better a month ago on a sizzling hot day.

Hazy yellow with a generous white head. Aroma: lemongrass, lime & some funk. Flavors: mostly sour not tart, lemon, lime, grain & a fair amount of funk. Feel: plenty of carbonation. Overall: lacking the promised tartness but good.

Bottle on RBSG Bus, courtesy of J. Hazy golden body, small white head. Light tart aroma, meadow, grass, lemons, funk. Taste too, light sourness with minor elements leaning towards saison flavors. Pucker puts this back in sour territory.

Sour lemon tart aroma. Unique lemony zest and key lime pie style wild microflora flavors. Only slightly bitter, with tangy lemon and a smooth side from the NY malted grains and herbal, green earthiness in the hops. The finish is tart and rather smooth

Had to look up Coolship for this.
In any case, poured the color of hay and translucent. The nearly white head dissipated to a thin film and stayed there for the entire time. Some yeast was left in the bottle, wasn’t expecting that.
The aroma was tart and funky, I rather liked it.
The taste followed, not lemon tart, more sour grapes, but not wine like at all. The malts play on the tongue with the funky flavors abounding in this. The carbonation lends a nice bite at the swallow.
The feel was excellent, not viscous but for a sub 6% beer, amazingly mouth filling.
OA- very glad to have gotten to try this!

No bottling date (purchased from brewery in 6/2020); consumed on 7/11/21
Pours a crystal-clear, golden straw body, almost relentlessly effervescent and capped with multiple fingers of craggy, soapy, eggshell-white foam; great head retention leaves a half-finger of rocky cap, large, foamy collar, and gobs of chunky, webby lacing ringing around the walls of the glass.
Aroma shows a subdued fruitiness in underripe papaya rind and tinges of fresher stonefruit melding for an almsot savory aspect into wispy horse blanket; light lemon meets sweet hay before touches of bright, lactic funk give zest to the back end of the bouquet.
Taste offers sweet peach cut with the zesty tone of dried lemon peel, while a fresh minerality brings brings interlude between the soft funk interspersed across the profile; underlying earthy quality comes through, peaking with touches of fresh-cut grass and softening horse blanket as the finish fades.
Mouthfeel has a light body, predominantly taut though thinning at some aspects, coupled with a pillowy fluff of moderate carbonation which disperses with a tingly spritz gliding through the mid-palate; a mild acidity is equaled in intensity by a tart twang before flattening to a steady, underlying grit and buttery texture on a quick finish.
Unflustered and lax, this wild ale offers an easygoing array of requisite funk without the complexities of a more evolved profile; while left lacking in depth and fairly simple, in many regards it excels as a sessionable sample of the untamed aspects of the style.
