Opening a bottle from 2021. Starts very clear, then turns opaque as the sediment gets poured, golden amber color, mild/non-existent head and lacing. Funky, tart, and fruity on the nose and the tongue. Crisp, dry finish, subtle booze. Very good.

i am in love plan bee and thankful to my brother for scoring and sharing a few bottles when i was in town. this red currant wild ale is amazing, really sour, but also funky and earthy, and a true expression of the fruit and all of its slightly medicinal, astringent, and vinous glory, really the essence of high summer to me, impressive, and now i am eager to try the black currant edition. 2021 vintage pouring a rose pink to pale orange shade with some soft haze and a lathered up creamy white head with fine retention for how acidic this ends up being. sharp mouthwatering nose but still bretty and wild too through the tang, lemony, red raspberry, cut flowers, raw wheat, subtle potpourri, hibiscus and lilac, white wine. the flavor is great because its so obviously currants, no mistaking, even though this does hit with some tart cranberry too. theres just a light pop of middle sweetness before the acid sets in, and there is nice grain support here, starchy and simple, but fluffy and essential for balance i reckon, even if the flavor is light. a sourer side of the plan bee fermentation profile but still familiar, nice and mature now too, and a lovely showcase of this fruit. these guys remains a bit unsung, not sure how, i think they do as well as anyone in the game with this sort of thing! this bottle was gone too fast...

Pours a pinkish orange color. Cloudy, but not completely opaque. Thin fizzy white head forms on the beer before quickly dissolving.
Aroma is both tart and funky with notes of horse blanket, spicy yeast, currants and some generic acidic notes.
Taste follows the nose with notes of berry, currants, acidic lemon citrus, spicy yeast notes, some funky horse blanket, with a tart, lightly puckering finish.
Feel is light, mildly puckering, prickly carbonation with a dry finish.
Overall a very nice wild ale. Will look to try more of their beers in the future

This is a truly beautiful beer - a light reddish pink hue and nearly crystal clear. Perfectly carbonated, although lacking the usual wonderful Plan Bee pillowy mouthfeel. This one is pretty sour - definitely more sour than tart. Another excellent wild ale from Plan Bee - looking forward to trying the black currant version.

I love this brewery. Very creative and usually really good. This offering is just what you want and hope to get in a fruited sour. Bright dark vibrant pink in the glass with a fast fading white head and a nose that rocks! You can smell fresh citric berry that is sweet and bright. Flavor follows nose completely and it's perfectly tart and fruity without any vinegar tones. This is a lovely wild ale with a wonderfully fresh and fruity long lasting finish. One to try for sure.
