Village Idiot "Saison Du Idiot"
On tap at the brewery, 9 August 2014
Notes: Hazy orange-golden body beneath a dense white head. Average retention - hard to tell in a plastic cup at the tasting room. Aroma of apple, pear, chalk/mustiness. Distinctly "saison" yeast. The flavor is malty, fruity with apple, and backed by grassy notes and the distinctly chalky/gravely note of the yeast in the long-lingering finish.

Appearance: hazy yellowish orange color with a 1" head that broke apart quickly.
Smell: very spicy nose that is pleasant.
Taste: bready malt base with a strong cracked black pepper, clove, green grapes, and a mild bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Yeast flavors come through late.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Very crisp throughout with some drying late. Long lasting aftertaste as the flavors linger on the tongue a while.
Overall: a very crisp and mildly refreshing beer. The spiciness is the focus in the flavor profile. Easy to drink.
