On tap at Bull City Ciderworks into pint glass. Pours fairly hazy ruby red/orange/copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Nose was a mostly boozy barrel and fruit. Malt comes in as it warms. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, herbal, grass; light pepper, roast, dark fruit, yeast earthiness. Bit of diacetyl and papery oxidation, but not overwhelming. Light to medium herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness; and oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light to medium carbonation and body. Creamy/silky/bready malts. Lt sticky hops and oak tannins, with lingering drying. No cloying flavors. Warming/boozy barrel lingering after the finish for 4.8%. Worked out well for a bba session beer. Probably spent a while in the barrel. It was very heavy on the barrel character, with good English malt complexity for the ABV. Good style example all around, the barrel cuts down the drinkability of it all.

Bottled 3/08/18.Pours a rich tawny hued amber with a thick off white head that settles into a nice creamy mass.Bourbon and toasted oak are big in the nose, light caramel comes thru underneath. The body is a little thin but par for the size of the beer. The bourbon barrel hits up front on the palate then some caramel and nuttines meld together making for a pretty well rounded flavor profile. While it won't blow u away it's a nice sipper,I was surprised at how 'small' this beer was with the aging.
