This was a unique, local, and completely Okinawan beer that I got to try in a pint glass in-house at the Okinawa Brewery/ Yomitan Cafe outside of Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan.
L: This beer was presented to me with a light (but full) off-white mop of head on a light golden-amber body of beer. Held to the light it had great clarity, some carbonation was visible, and it looked damn tasty.
S: An aggressive and earthy nose from the Beni-Imo in the beer; almost exactly what I expected when I ordered. It isn't overpowering, and the dry and bright smell of a light fruitiness mingling with the malt and yam scent was clearly present as well.
T: Amazingly balanced taste of the yam sweetness with a dry maltiness with a light accent of a northwestern citrusy hop variety. The beer ends cleanly, leaving you thirsty for more with a hint of Beni-Imo still present on the palate.
F: Brighter and more carbonated than I expected; this serves the sweetness of the Beni-Imo and leaves a nice and clean finish to the beer.
O: This is a very unique beer, as I said. It's completely Okinawan; light, garden-esque, and lively, and the brewers did exceptionally well capturing the countryside of the island in this drink. I would have more than one, since the flavors aren't too overpowering, but after enough the beer may start to get a little off-putting.
