Bourbon barrel-aged cinnamon bun stout
Fellow Rebels! We're bringing a new hope to the year with our first #StasisProject release of 2022!
Memory Systems is an imperial stout brewed with a caramel-toned, baked pastry malt base and aged in a braid of Old Fitzgerald, Heaven Hill, and Elijah Craig barrels that strike back with a finished 14% ABV.
We conditioned the beer with a four-day marshmallow steep and a recirculation through Madagascar vanilla beans, Vietnamese cinnamon, and cassia bark. An opening crawl of cinnamon awakens the senses and swirls into a vanilla frosting mid-palate with galaxies of marshmallow as the liquid warms.

Poured a dense, black body with minimal khaki head that quickly died. Aroma is heavy on the booze and woodiness that comes across almost as meaty or smoky along with some vanilla that reminds me of rum (I know the label said "bourbon barrels"). Medium body, almost heavy, a little sticky with an artificial cinnamon icing sweetness underneath a boozy, vanilla and somewhat smoky mouthfeel and then finishes real boozy like a shot of rum, although I will add that this slow sipper gets sweeter as the beer warms and is worth relaxing with.

Bottle picked up in San Diego, split with the wife. Pours very dark and fairly still with very light perceivable carbonation in only the tiniest ring of head lacing. Pastry-like nose, lots of vanilla marshmallow on the nose with a chocolate-like sweetness behind, as well as the baking spices and cinnamon character reported on the bottle label. The palate is oily and viscous, sticky with barrel character and vanilla syrup, liquid marshmallow in a glass with a side of boozy cinnamon bun. Full-bodied, thick, chewy, and still pretty warm (14% abv). This thing delivers on everything it promises...definitely a sipper for me. Can't rate it as high as others have, simply because these types of beers are hard on my palate, I have a difficult time finishing more than 6-8 ounces...everything past that kind of becomes a semi-enjoyable chore.
Also my first Bottle Logic, and I was warned that their stouts are definitely sweet. This one seems the least aggressively cloying out of the variants I could have picked from, and I do love me some cinnamon in a stout, so I'm glad I chose this one.

2022 edition. One year old. Pours dark with light cinnamon head. The flavors are there but not in face intense. I get the marshmallow aroma. Wish the flavors where more intense. Mouthfeel is silky smooth and sweet and sticky. For a year old the 14% boozyness is still present. This one would be fantastic 2 years of age. Still great brew for sipping on a cold night in front of the fireplace.

Pours jet black & oily viscosity. Aroma is dominated by lovely sweet cinnamon with hints of vanilla and the bourbon. Taste is complex. Feels like eating bourbon french toast - cinnamon, vanilla, sugar & bourbon. Thickish mouthfeel. Overall a wonderful stout.

poured from a 500mL bottle into a TG DBA tumbler. pours a thick, vicious, oily black with a finger of dense mocha brown foam head. big, big cinnamon on this one on the nose and in the taste. guess that should be expected but it’s the first and last thing to his the nostrils and tastebuds. in between there’s chocolate, vanilla and slight bourbon in the taste. as it reaches room temperature the vanilla and barrel pop more but so does the cinnamon. there’s no escaping it but it’s still really good. if you’re adverse to cinnamon you’re probably not going to dig it but the combination of additives works well with the heat and spice from the barrels and cinnamon complimenting the sweetness of the marshmallows, vanilla and chocolate-forward base stout. thick, full mouthfeel. cinnamon bun stout is a little misleading as it’s really more a cinnamon/vanilla stout and as that goes, they nailed it. even though the cinnamon is the star here everything else had its place and does well in executing a delicious stout that is just as much a breakfast stout as it is a dessert stout. in fact, the cinnamon heaviness of this makes me think this would be perfect around the holidays as well.

Was it worth the $30? Similar to a pastry stout from the Bruery. Lots of cinnamon, bourbon barrel flavor. Very smooth MF. Worth about $15. Yes,I do understand inflation…
Dark chocolate color in a snifter. No head. Medium aroma of cinnamon and some bourbon barrel.
The MF is exceptionally smooth- very creamy.
The taste is more cinnamon with bourbon barrel, some vanilla.
Overall: too expensive. Somehow I didn’t look at my receipt.
I have never paid over $20 for a craft beer that was worth it.
Excellent beer- overpriced.

Cinnamon rolls and beer, what a combo. Memory Systems from BL takes a stroll down Brunch Lane with a deep and bitter cinnamon stout. It is rounded out by a rich, thick marshmallow ribbon. The brew also gives off cinnamon latte vibes showing off some of the adjunct complexity.

Bourbon soaked cinnamon roll. Not overly sweet. The Bourbon does a good job of balancing out the adjuncts. Cinnamon is just strong enough to not be overpowering. Finishes with a nice vanilla marshmallow flavor. Mouthfeel is perfect.
