Look: It pours brown with some clouding. It has a tan head with low head retention.

Smell: It has a combination of malty caramel and peanuts up front in the aroma. The alcohol is noticeable in the nose with brandy touches and touches of smoke. There are touches of jelly, but not enough to distinguish what type. As it warms, it becomes more pronounced and strawberry like.

Taste: There are a mixture of caramel, strawberry and to a lesson degree peanut flavors. There are touches of brandy in support. There are some dark cherry notes with very light smoke touches and roast touches.

Feel: It has a full body with strong alcohol warming, but nothing on the hot side.

Overall, I must admit that I had my doubts for this in a barleywine, but it actually worked rather well. Of course, if you are not a Peanut butter and jelly person, this is not for you.

550ml bottle poured into a teku

A- pours a dark brown color with a thin off-white foamy head that reduces to a ring

S- huge roasted peanut note on the nose, followed by complimenting jammy grapes. Oak, brandy, caramel, candied figs, brown bread undertones

T- taste is dominated by vinous brandy with a big oak note. Jammy berries follow, along with sweet notes of caramel, vanilla cream, figs and dark cherries. As it nears the finish, some peanut notes poke through the sweetness. Finished and lingers with jammy berries

M- medium viscous body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel slightly syrupy into the warming finish

O- the aroma is spot on. The taste leans heavily toward the grape

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a dark brown with minimal head. Before I dig into this, I have to say that I was very skeptical about this one given the addition of strawberries to a barleywine. Normally not my thing.

The nose is very much an English barleywine. The fruit is minimal. Toffee, brandy, strawberry, raisin, and chocolate. Really nice. The fruit doesn't dominate.

The taste is actually fantastic. The brandy is quite dominant and it's wonderful. A bit boozy, but not overwhelming. The strawberry is there, but not too much. I keep thinking blackberry covered chocolate. Chocolate, nuts, and brandy. Definitely comes across as a PB&J! Really nice overall.

The mouthfeel is thick and creamy. The aftertaste is relatively sweet, but not too sweet.

Very dark opaque brown body, multiple fingers of light brown foam. Smell has two realms: brandy barrel aged barleywine and hyper sweet grape with roasted peanuts. Never really come together. Taste tries harder to combine, with the end of the brandy laden barley meeting the grape with candied grape winning out, toasted nuts come before the wood from the barrel carries the day. More weird than good. Feel is very warm, verging on hot when combined with the residual sweetness of the sip, thinner but plenty heavy

OK Pepe, I have to admit this 500ML bottle is a touch alarming. Grape brandy casks? Peanut butter & strawberry jam? Hmmmm.

Looks like a dark beer infused with dark red. Nose speaks of grape soda.

Resonant Frequency is a hot mess of grape. The grape brandy cask torpedoes the taste buds, which die happily. Booze plays back-up. And that’s it. That’s the review. Malts + grape brandy cask. Delicious.

One could ask for more complexity, or for the listed ingredients to actually show up in the taste. No need. This is my first grape brandy beer & it’s very good in its one note.
