Great light appearance. Very mild smell. Licorish flavor is very prevalent. This is a new brewery that has other beer that are better but this is not one of them.

Draft tonight at the taproom... Ditmier and I both had a big glass... Pours a slightly hazy deep amber with a nice 1 finger light tan head.... Nose is big and malty with a nice barrel presence... Flavor is rich with an abundant caramel maltiness that is still balanced by a nice hop bitterness... dark toast... whisky presence comes across as a spicy element with a hit of vanilla and perhaps cherry.. Anise/absinthe is abundant in the aroma and the flavor but never overpowers the rest of the beer ... Slight fruity esters or perhaps something from the grain with warmth... Very tasty... Bigger boned on the palate, but not overly thick, surprisingly drinkable given the ABV. Really well done, I would buy bottles of this in a minute.. One of my favorite Woodland brews I've had yet. Delivers on the name, no doubt.
