really another excellent beer from these guys, been looking at it in the store for weeks and kept on thinking it was a blonde for some reason with the golden so prominent on the label, but this is a hefe through and through, and im glad i finally picked it up. its got some nice head from the can, even though they each feel a little squishy. golden in color alright, a straw tone to it, white foam rings. strong yeasty nose, apples and raw dough, some spiciness to, robustly wheaty as well, really a pretty intense smelling take on an easy drinking style here. it tastes good though, bold as it is, and is refreshing because of the high carbonation and trending dryness at the end, but tons of yeast to this, an almost umami element, weird in a beer this color, earthy from the grain, an almost spelt thing to it, fruity hops, a banana ester, cotton candy, white pepper and even bay leaf or something. bubbly and slightly tangy, weird but likely intentionally so with these guys. their grocery store stuff has never been what turned me on to them, but this is pretty good and will drink just fine this weekend with the warm forecast. the germans might not rave about it, but i dig it.

On-tap at Bailey's Taproom, Portland, OR
A: The beer is very hazy yellow in color. It poured into a weizen glass with a quarter finger high white head that died down, leaving a collar of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of bananas are present in the nose along with hints of wheat.
T: The taste follows the smell, having flavors of bands and notes of wheat. No cloves are perceptible.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is an honest hefeweizen that has nice amounts of bananas in both the smell and taste.
Serving type: on-tap

Draft at WE taproom. Finally a good American weizen. Only thing missing is the glass. Pours out a hazy orange/golden with short fluffy head. Melon / banana aromas, bubblegum, the usual suspects. Taste brings more, accentuated by the medium weight body and silky feel. I’d like see this stay around.
