Tasted sweet malts up front and light flavors of dark cherry-plum are mixed in with a pleasant earthy maltiness in the finish and aftertaste. Did find it almost too mild though.

Lovely looking beer here. Pitch black body with a fantastic thick and creamy tan head.
Nice regular porter aroma. Bitter sweet chocolate, light roast coffee and toasted malts. Very good.
Taste is nice also and has a curious short lasting dark sugar sweetness.that works well.
Good medium mouth feel and semi dry finish.
A very good porter/stout

Look: Pitch black with a great looking tan head that forms a silky pillow up top and slowly settles, leaving great lacing behind
Aroma: Roasted barley, dark baking cocoa, light filbert notes, almost a sweet cream-like note (think candy cream, not necessarily milk cream), and more deep chocolate notes
Taste: Huge silky waves of dark chocolate and roast flood onto the palate and as it settles, nuttiness and some light sweetness become evident. More cocoa, Dutch chocolate, and roast in the middle and finishes with nice roast and chocolate notes
Mouthfeel: Ridiculously smooth and silky throughout, full bodied, medium carbonation, and a soft silky finish
Overall: This is outstanding. I’ve really dug both beers I’ve had from these folks so far and so had to try this new-to-me offering when I saw it. It has great malt depth with multi-layered roast and chocolate notes plus has an awesomely smooth and silky mouthfeel to it that impresses me, especially without utilizing oats or lactose. Delicious and highly recommended

On tap at brewery. Dark brown pour, kind of flat. Roasty, chocolaty aroma. Taste is mildly sweet, bitter with more of the chocolate coming through. Really interesting. Note: this is a stout not a porter....

from the mixed twelve pack. this is a pretty robust dark beer, a little sweeter through most of it than i generally want in the style, but its certainly full flavored, shockingly low alcohol, and pretty good as these evenings have still been all grey and wet and chilly. this will be a bit much as soon as it feels like spring out, but no sign of that in the forecast, so i am pleased to still have a few of these in my fridge. the body is fuller and the color is near black, a bit of a sticky feel to it too, lots of crystal malt richness in the center, a caramel note to balance the bitterness of the dark roasted barley. notes of dark chocolate covered toffee, well chewed on cigar, and gummy raisins. it lingers long in the finish, sits on the tongue awhile, and is filling to me, but i like its balance, robustness, and faint flash of toasted coconut on the swallow. maybe one of the less bizarre beers i have had from these guys so far, but certainly up to their high quality standards i have enjoyed from woodland empire. more fall than spring through for sure.
