Pint at brewery. This is actually a helles, not a vienna. And the white chocolate works exceptionally , guiding the aroma and taste with nice chocolaty notes, on top of a velvety smooth lager base. Really delicious.

a white chocolate lager as they called it, and a real clever beer. a helles lager as a base, and a good one, light as it is, with raw cacao and vanilla in here, but this isnt all milkshaked out and desserty, its still dry as they go, and decidedly german, with the flavorful lager yeast at least as robust as the additives on the back end, smart and well executed, which is becoming the standard for woodland empire beer in my experience, i have basically loved all i have had from them so far. i think this one is really well proportioned, and as much as the vanilla and almost buttery earthy cacao make this distinct, its still a classic lager underneath, with the mineral profile of the water, the crisp crackery european malt, and the timeless yeast strain all still being active contributors to this. it does have a sweet apex, but its dry and almost crisp again by the finish, and because of all the bubbles, it moves and drinks really freely. kind of an odd flavor combination really, but its somehow really cohesive and good. i like how much the helles still defines whats happening here, but how unique the vanilla and cacao make it. this is really thoughtful stuff!
