Frappuccino Stout

another wildly creative and pretty well executed beer from these guys. this is a stout done with cold brewed coffee and also some almond milk if i understand it correctly, as it was advertised to me as vegan, so likely not done with lactose, but still with that sweet creamy taste and feel the style is known for. its deep brown and murky looking, and doesnt have a whole lot of head retention, but the appearance is its weakest attribute. the coffee is strong in the nose, the almond element comes through with a little amaretto note and some sweetness like brown sugar, and the roast of the grains is nice, some cocoa there as well, as earthy and roasty as it is desserty, and thats true in the flavor too, where the coffee and the almond milk really come together, definitely has a coffee drink vibe, but the beer character remains high enough for this to work as a beer, the stout is smooth and fuller bodied, plenty sweet, but balanced too with the darker roasted grains, and overall i thought this was excellent, if a bit filling after awhile. its neat to see this kind of subtle innovation work so well, the almond milk is a nice touch, and really kind of defines this one along with the coffee. excellent beer for this time of year, cozy feeling to me, yummy!
