Was excited to get a helles with such a promised array for flavors. Was. Smell has general citrus and cranberries strongest, with signifiant hop bitters. Taste is just as muddled, but even more offensive the hop bitters dominate, the breadiness is completely overshadowed. Feel is sharp, bright, grainy, and sweet feeling but not tasting in the finish. But hey it pretty good

a new fruited lager here, done with cranberries and limes and tangerines, and dry hopped pretty well. a neat recipe, a little kitchen sinky maybe, a lot going on here to pull attention away from the base lager, which doesnt retain a ton of character on its own, but a summery and refreshing drinker, and more awesome label art from these guys. they sure know how to jazz up a lager too, man oh man. the cranberries add a neat tartness to this, a little twang through most of it that gives it a white sangria vibe, especially with the fresh limes and the fruity hops, a nice mix of flavors. it is a touch sweet though, and i dont get a lot of german malt or anything here, the base beer seems maybe slightly lacking, although i do get a bit of the european lager yeast that keeps this grounded. im also not sure tangerine pops to me, a bit more of a generic citrus vibe with these hops, but summery and pleasant in here just the same. good carbonation, light tang, medium body, unique. i maybe dont want five of them, but one was fun. really enjoying just about everything woodland empire is making these days, and this is a cool mix of old world base beer and new school additions. nice.
