the very definition of ugly delicious, this is gross to look at, but awesome to taste, and while it obviously is a little short on refinement, its a really tasty beer, and the use of real fruit is very much obvious. it came out of the tap a murky muddy sedimented brown tone, maybe a little purple behind it, but even the head is brownish, doesnt look the part of a light fruited gose at all, i thought this would be delicate and rose pink, instead it looks like slurry from a mine. it smells great though, lightly tart, clean on the lactic souring, tangy from the skins of the plum, i also now observe some actual fruit pulp in here i think, the whole fruit is awesome, but it certainly has made this look unappealing with the brown its all turned. the flavor is great though, honest plum from start to finish, nicely enhanced by a little bit of salt, earthy in that way, and with some appreciable pale wheat character too, all the parts are in harmony, the souring is on point, not overdone or messy at all, and there is actually some carbonation pushing up through this. plum is a perfect fruit for gose, and its killer in this. that said, i need a little more cleaning up here, its not the color that really is the issue, this just feels super amateur for a beer on tap at a commercial brewery, like as good as it tastes, they have to find a way to make this a little bit more visually appealing and refined in the texture. great use of the plums, nice salt presence, and a cool beer overall, but its unfortunately sloppy at the same time.

16oz crowler from brewery. Initially shocked by the ruddy brown pour, but theres so many plums in here it makes sense. Aroma is more prune than plum, sweet. Taste brings plenty of salt, followed by sweet, sugary plum/prune flavors. Sweet on the tongue, salty on the lips. Full, thick, smooth.
