16oz crowler from breweery. Near black pour with a thin beige head which settles out quickly. Sweet aroma, chocolate and maple. Taste adds light coffee and vanilla to compliment the cocoa and maple. Sweet, smooth, light.

a heady breakfast stout with coffee and maple, heaps of both it seems, and while this is low alcohol and only medium bodied, its a pretty heavy drink to me, almost overdone on the flavors, especially the maple, which is rare for me to say because i live for all things maple, but it hits such a strong note in here that its almost unnatural, much as the flavor is delicious, and it overtakes the rest of the beer, lingers long on my tongue and in my burps, which i dont always love. pretty from the tap, black and matte looking with a frothy almost white head, good lace and foam, looks just right. the maple assaults my nostrils in a good way, impressive how forward it is, a ton of roast here too both from the barley and the coffee, which adds a lot of bitterness as well, needed i guess to counterbalance the maple. nothing really from yeast or hops to me, but there is enough going on without that. the flavor is about the same, its not too much maple until i swallow it, minutes after each sip i am still tasting that part of it, it permeates my tongue. the coffee is intense too though, and this is a sneaker in that its low alcohol and all, but it drinks big. the base stout is of fine quality which always is important in this sort of thing, and i liked this overall, but it could be dialed back a half step and improved a bit i reckon. still, i love all the new stuff these guys have been putting on tap lately, and they continue to rank among the best in town here.
