Draft at Woodland. Cloudy copper color, persistent creamy head. Sweet aroma, caramel, ginger, vanilla. Taste is ginger ale with carrot cake notes, including the frosting. Very subtle though, with a snappy finish.

carrot cake ipa, neat on a number of levels, but i dont need the cake part, which thankfully is really only lactose in this, no spices or anything, but i could do without the vein of sweetness running through it, the carrot juice element and the malt adds sweetness enough, call it carrot ipa, not carrot cake ipa, but whatever, its good and its clever, i just dont know why everything has to have lactose in it these days. i guess they use a ton of carrot juice in it which is cool, i get that honey milk thing, sweet and earthy at the same time, and it definitely has a cool impact on the flavor and texture of this, but i like that its truly ipa first, hops are way in front of any carrot or cake elements, so this drinks creative without being a gimmick. i smell and taste simcoe in front of the other hops, its woodsy and northwestern, relatively bitter too so this has balance, and its present from start to finish, a little citrus splash along side it as well. good grain weight, a little heavy with the lactose, and its a one and done drink for me even though i liked it. the sweet and earthy carrot is a cool feature, but the beer could be a little better refined overall. good idea and good execution though, these guys always keep it interesting and fun, glad i got to have one of these before its gone. thanks to my friend for hooking me up with a can! the hops and the carrot are cool together, i hope this comes back in slightly altered form in the future, they are onto something here...
