this is pretty tasty stuff, almost a little more like a biere de garde to me, more malty, amber colored, grain driven as much as yeast, and with more of a clean french type fermentation profile than anything farmy or rustic, but the beer is nice overall, well refined, quite drinkable, and great with their spicy chicken wings in here, which were really solid! good shine and clarity to this, the radiance and shade of a new penny, fading white head on it from the tap. smells and tastes fruity from the yeast, ripe banana, golden raisin, that sort of thing, warm and hearty, with some honey and even maple sweetness from the malt, light white wine character to the yeast, and lots of minerals, quite earthy. i generally am not super into clean saison like this, less still the more malty ones, but this really is a very nice beer, well made and different from the crowd, we better than i thought it would be when i first saw it in the glass. light yeast spiciness here, toasted grain character, some mellow grassiness, no funk or tang or anything at all, clean but unique at the same time, and definitely a step forward in quality for these guys compared to many of their others ive had in the past.
