This isn't a bad beer, but this beer isn't for everyone.

Also, this beer is absolutely, positively not a stout, although it is stout-like. Perhaps it would be better categorized as a strong ale. It's a cuvee of stout, BW and roggenbock. -And, you definitely taste that roggenbock. It has that lager-y element to it. This is the type of beer that you need time with to appreciate, but also need to be in the right mood. The roggenbock is not just present, but strong. The BW isn't obviously present, but it does seem to be used to balance the other flavors present, and helping to tame the roggenbock.

Not really my thing, but I can appreciate that it isn't a bad beer. You just need to go into it knowing that it isn't a stout, and definitely isn't a stout-BW cuvee.

Served from the can in a snifter.

You like jazz? Forever? Regardless, this stuff pours a deep obsidian topped by a finger or so of tan foam. The nose comprises roasted malts, light barrel, stiff coffee, light cocoa powder, and a touch of candied orange peel if you squint your nostrils enough. The taste generally brings in more of the same, though the coffee, which takes complete control over the final act, doesn't come across very well, feeling overly bitter and astringent, clashing with the other flavor components on the way down and as things coat. The body is a light hefty, with a light moderate carbonation and a thick feel. Overall, a solid blended stout in concept, but the final execution just didn't fully do it for me.
