Got this one at the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 440ml can into a pint glass
Canned 2 May 2019
Strawberry Session IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a smaller, one finger, medium looking white head that quickly recedes to a faint wisp and ring. A slightly hazy Princeton orange with medium levels of carbonation. Faint, splotchy wisp remains until the end leaving touches of lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Definite strawberries all over this one. Melon and caramel notes, but plenty of overripe strawberries here. Bold too.
TASTE: Strawberries, some grainy flavors, caramel and melon up front. Some more strawberry thought the middle into a medium and lingering finish of berries, caramel sweetness, grainy notes and some pronounced hop bitterness.
PALATE: Medium-lighter body with medium levels of carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes drier on the palate. Decent bitterness.
OVEARALL: This is okay. It smells better than it tastes though, as the overripe strawberries come out much better in the aroma than they do in the flavor. The recipe probably called for very few aroma hops so as to not clash with the strawberries, but unfortunately that allowed the grainy malt flavors to play too big of a role. Okay, but not something I’d want to revisit per se.

Hazy orange body with a pink hue, head is white with low density and rather thin but quite stable
aroma is strawberry ice cream with some piney hops quite nice
starts watery strawberry and vanilla but soon ends in bitterness, connection is missing
not too watery in the body given the low abv, refreshing carbonation
Not bad for a seesion ipa with strawberry
