I bought this blind at the local beer store because I liked the name "Whiskey Barrel Brown", plus I knew they are a local brewery that I haven't tried, yet. I was not dissappointed!
It looks like it should (maybe a little darker than it should), and the whiskey aroma was a little lighter than I expected, but once I tried it... my whole attitude changed! The whiskey taste was still mild, but it really complimented the beer well. It has the taste of a damn good brown ale, with a wonderful mouth feel! I bought this blind, but now I can see! This is how brown ales should go down!

Out.Haus Brewing keeps a very low profile. Their beers on this site get very few reviews. Yet, their beer is consistently great. However, it is Whiskey Barrel Brown that earns an 'outstanding', as this is one of the best barrel-aged Brown Ales I have tried. What is interesting about it is that it is not hammering you in the face with whiskey or bourbon flavor and booziness. I bought this from Craft Beer Cellar in Nashua in a 22oz. bomber immediately after seeing it for the first time. Out.Haus is always coming out with new styles and I try to buy every single one.
Out.Haus Brewing, keep up the excellent work. I am moving to Illinois later this summer and really hope that you distribute out that far!

I picked up a growler of this yesterday ($16) at the source. Diving in today while watching watching some football on a snowy Sunday afternoon.
It's a very dark, dense mahogany color.. Has a very creamy beige head, with excellent lacing sticking in the glass. Has nice notes of malty caramel along with some hints of whiskey. Has a medium body, with just a light touch of prickle leaving some tickle on the tongue.
Flavor has some more tasty caramel malt action. Also has some toffee and nutty notes, blending in with the solid malt backbone and the whiskey. The finish has some earthy aspects along with some hop florality. A solid brew from Out Haus. Prosit!
