Served on draft. Cloudy orange body, small white head, nice lacing. Aromas of sweet orange, yeast, spice and caramel malt. Flavor is sweeter than I expected this to be, typical spice & yeast Saison flavors. Nothing stand-out, but certain on the sweeter side for the style.

DATE TASTED: July 31, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter... OCCASION: a long, hot week of camp begs for a refreshing style ... APPEARANCE: slightly cloudy, definitively orange body; white head fizzes before an accurate visual can be confirmed; an island of haze spins atop a lively, powerful aquifer of bubbles--intriguing start...no lacing left on the glass... AROMA: immediate attack of cinnamon, nutmeg, heavy dough, and some astringency that detracts from the overall sense...PALATE: oily, warming, and medium-bodied--a slightly vibrant finish that stokes the fire even more....ultimately not detracting from or lending to the overall effect of the beer...TASTE: the mustard is front and center, an odd flavor that I do not believe I have experienced in another beer; the saltiness at the tongue and throat is abrasive but also undeniably unequivocal to my mouth’s memory; the doughy malts do their worst as well--this puts the growl in growler, and being in-state, the freshness is guaranteed (shout-out to the Liquor Factory and its state-of-the-art apparatus)...still, only a trace of the barnyard esters that trademark this style, and though I love the aggressiveness of the attempt, this would not be a beer I reach for in the future--and definitely not on a hot evening when refreshment is paramount... OVERALL: this seems to be the summer of the saison, with every brewery offering up its best intention--and how many hands were on the mash tun of this beer?! A roll call of favorites--Victory, Troegs, Yards, especially--may have been too much for a beer of this magnitude...man, this beer reminds me of OC, when I sucked half the ocean while caught in a rip tide...a novelty that I could have served my friends during viewing Lavalantula, but not a beer I am excited to stare down with 40+ ounces to drink from the growler...
