Sixteen ounce can copped from Ridgedale Liquors in East Hanover. Pours a deep, dark ebony hue with impressive frothing. Ardent aroma replete with notes of molasses and cocoa. Great stuff. Recommended.

Aroma is heavily roasted malts - somewhat smokey and salty. Kind of reminds me of an oyster stout. Taste is roasted malts, a tiny bit smokey and a little astringent. Feel is very light bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall, I wish I got more smoke and salt. Might as well make this an extreme beer since its already headed in that direction.

(16 oz can, 7.5% abv, PR PORTER 03/15/21; gift single... poured into a fat tulip)

L: tall tan foam rising high on the pour, waited before pouring in remainder of can; the liquid is a dark, ruby red, with brilliant clarity... the foam settles tight and glossy, but recedes to broken collar, though a couple combs of lace remain

S: smoky, roasted barley, with a mild root beer spice and molasses edge; almost a bubblegum undertone, which may or may not resemble the spice in a pork roll... honestly, on a blind test, I might guess black IPA or robust porter, with a little something extra... excellent intensity and expression, though it fuzzes out and gets a little pissy as it goes

T: smoky, roasty malts, humming hard start-to-finish, with a relatively woody, ember-y aftertaste... a ripping, semi-herbal bitterness seems to creep up halfway, coloring the medium-intense, phenolic smoke, with subtle nutty, dark, burnt sugars buzzing on the sides of the palate; brown sugar character, but overall not syrupy or too sweet

F: soft, subtle, silkiness to its medium-light body; lager-smooth, despite the pin prick attack of the harsher elements... alcohol is at my favorite level; strident (smoke-bumped), almost cutting, but not quite boozy... could drink too many; dry-cut, bold sting upon the palate

O: I didn't have this the first (few?) time(s) it was around; a buddy tipped me off that it was available again and grabbed me a can, and I'm grateful for it, as this was a delightful, sort of throwback, bold, very-American porter, the added peat-smoky umph of which was right in my wheelhouse... wasn't reminiscent of pork roll, but it's the thought that counts (1728)

Solid black, just above medium body with a bit more carbonation than most porters. Aroma was roasted malt, bakers chocolate,a little coffee, and it took a while to identify but pork roll. Taste is pretty much the same . Oversll it seems to all come togethor and is a very decent porter that I would look for again
