Pours jet black with good tastes of blackberry. Very drinkable beer with good ABV and solid mocha head and aroma. Definitely recommend, but rare and special.

Canned on 3/13/19
Pours a thick, oily black topped with a few fingers of dark mocha foam; solid longevity on the head, giving way to a uniform, dense, and creamy collar and a light web of lacing clinging to the glass.
Aromas of blackberry syrup and a hefty, sweet almond backbone are unrestrained upfront, with only light vanilla appearing in spots to even things out; strong, almost sickly sweetness bordering on medicinal.
Taste is strong with blackberry syrup and a more toned down almond nuttiness than the bouquet; chocolate, vanilla bean, and roasted barley come through in dense waves on the finish, but not enough to save this from following the aroma as more medicinal than not.
Mouthfeel brings a medium-heavy body with light carbonation and a light bit of gritty malt; sticky/mouth-coating; a more tame balance of sweetness/roastiness than the flavor profile, and finishes relatively easily against the near-overbearing sweetness.
Just too much happening here and very little balance to show for it; messy, sweet, and uncomfortably medicinal at its worst. Big pass for me on this one; it’s just not my thing.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high dark tan head that left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of almond are present in the nose along with notes of vanilla and chocolate.
T: The taste follows the smell and has lots of almond flavors along with strong notes of chocolate and hints of blackberries.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied and very smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: In both the smell and taste, I really liked the aromas and flavors of almonds in this beer as it really was unique compared to any other one that I have tried.
