Our stout brewed for Weathered Souls Brewing project to raise awareness for racial justice. This 9% imperial stout with Ecuador Santa Gertrudis coffee is bold and unctuous. We are proud to support this project and will be donating proceeds to Audre Lorde Project and Brooklyn Bail Fund.

Good entry into the Black is Beautiful project. I didn't find it overly bold at 9 % ABV but it has an interesting smell from the Ecuadorian coffee and if you let it sit on your tongue you really get the sensation of drinking an iced coffee. This beer is not thick or strong with chocolate notes and it comes off a bit thinner than I like my stouts, but that is my preference. I might be a bit spoiled with all the wonderfully viscous and rich stouts on the market now. All in all, this rates as a solid beer for a great cause.

side by side tasting of 4 Black is Beautiful beers.

Kane was the clear winner. Finback, Icarus and Springhouse were all a touch or 2 below. Finback was probably the 2nd choice.
Still; all were somewhat similar and quality.

LOOK: dark black, creamy off white head. thick. good retention.
AROMA: CHOCOLATE, COFFEE
TASTE: dark chocolate, light roasted malt and coffee.
FEEL: touch watery, but very smooth. ok carbonation.

A: The beer is black in color. It poured with a finger high dense tan colored head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of dark malts are present in the nose along with notes of vanilla and hints of coffee beans.
T: The taste has lots of flavors of dark malts along with notes of coffee.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This stout has nice flavors of dark malts and coffee and does a very good job at hiding any traces of alcohol from the taste.

Can from the brewery in Queens during the 2020 COVID pause. Pours black with a dark tan head and nice lacing, smell is dark roast coffee, hints of molasses and cocoa, taste follows the nose with nice black coffee and roasted dark malts, feel is medium to light, bordering on thin. A solid coffee stout for a good cause.
