The beer hits of raisins, dried cherry, tons of bitter cacao and coffee, with a light roasty malt. The finish offers a surprising drying from a roasty beer. It lingers with some light funk and almost a spoiled quality.
A well done Belgian stout, with the Brett really drying out this beer.

L: Pours black with a dark creamy head with small bubbles. Decent head retention for such a low-carbonated beer, with a very thin layer of froth sitting on top of the beer.
S: Roasty, dry and yeasty. Prominent baking chocolate notes, with some cherries and earthy, leathery funk bordering on soy sauce.
T: Very interesting. Funky, earthy and very dry with unsweetened baker’s chocolate and day-old coffee, black cherries and lots of roasted malts. Some old leather and tobacco, with a decent amount of bitterness. A bit of sweet dark cherry in the finish.
F: On the lighter side of medium-bodied, with restrained carbonation and a creamy, oily mouthfeel.
Thoughts: This was a highly unusual beer, and I rather liked it. I knew it wasn’t going to be my favorite from Transmitter but despite being such a different beer it was very well put together. Plus I like to see a brewery trying to recreate a historic example of the style: Brett influenced, with substantial hop bitterness, and very dry.

Wow. I guess this is round 2 for this beer at Beer Culture, but Transmitter really nailed it this time around. Moderate roast, yielding lots and lots of dark chocolate goodness. Bitterness is up there, but not over the line, and the finish is dry, dry, dry. The Brett plays more of a supporting role this time around, all for the better. And it's an equal mix of barnyard and flowers - goldenrod in particular, but pretty wildflowery.
I let my glass warm a while before starting and was rewarded with a well woven bit of beer tapestry. I finally have had a beer that gives a good glimpse into the heart of the original porters. Keep making this one, Transmitter!
