A very pleasant AIPA. I wish a majority of North American micros made AIPAs that had their hops blended this pleasantly.

Spider Monkey Looks like a pretty ale, a tight foam that laces around the glass. Smells are only slightly above average; mostly malt for a highly aromatic style. Add more tropical aroma in the next release. Tastes are balanced, only in the finish do the bitter hops take over and, unfortunately, that's what this style does. Medium-mouthed.

Black Isle gets very good Overall Hugs for being so dedicated to organic brewing and the persistence required to keep a brewery going in the middle of where to few people live. This part of Scotland is not a hospitable place, so Black Isle opened pubs in two towns (cities) with people. Founded in 1998, BIBCL has made it work sticking to their organic principles. They may have minimal impact as a small brewery. but they have shown the way for bigger ones. But what about the rest of us?

Taste - about the same as the smell, taste like a session
Feel - medium body with a crisp carb

330ml can from Sainsbury's (£1.50):
Hazy, medium amber with a foamy white head made up of fine bubbles but that look quite thick on the surface; it starts about 2cm tall before halving in size. Sweet malts & citrus hops open the nose with some mango, tropical fruits & peach but it's a light aroma. The taste is more tropical & quite juicy with citrus, mango & pine coming through as well. It's tangy & refreshing with a medium body & similar carbonation levels; it's pleasant without being anything special.

Can conditioned. Hazy gold with a frothy head. Lacing present.
Citrus aroma. Oranges and lemons. Grass.
Taste reflects the smell. Limited bitterness.
Soft feel. Zingy on the tongue.
Run of the mill.
