Brewed for the city of Macon's annual cherry blossom celebration, this ale was my sole favorite beer from this brewery. A medium/light bodiesd ale light rose red in color with good carbonation, a light touch of rye and sweet cherry dominant. There are other similar cherry beers, but the restraint and lack of going overboard with more adjuncts made this a pleasant springtime beer. Alas it will be no more as on December 11, 2022 The Macon Beer Company is ceasing operations. Farewell to the first brewery to open in Macon since Prohibition.

I want to like this beer. But man it just falls flat. Smell is good, taste is eh, and feel is bad.

Pours a slightly hazy, reddish deep amber. A thin swirl of particulates dance and minor effervesce rises from the bottom. The pour produces 1.5 fingers of short-lived, faintly pink tinged beige head which diminishes to a poor excuse for a surface cap and collar ring without leaving any lace. Aroma is cherry pie, bread crust, dough and floral with a hint of earthy rye. Taste is also cherry pie-like including the bread crust but the doughy note is not as evident as it is in the nose. The rye is more evident with a fruity candy apple hint and the Blonde Ale character is quite evident. Sweet fronted it dries by the light peppery finish and short-lived aftertaste. Bitters and become chalky in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with low-moderate carbonation and a light prickliness on the back of the palette, fairly smooth but not clean.

12 oz can, 5.0% ABV, no can dating.

Pours a strawberry puree color with a bubblegum pink head. Really surprising and nice.

Aroma is of crisp, bready, malty grains and hints of cherry blossom and rose. Slight quartz, strawberry, lemon/lime.

As I'm sipping this I'm wondering what the hell happened here. This is a really bad clash of sweetbreads, mowed grass, piney hop, and relatively flavorless fruit jam. Chalk. Based on the nose and appearance this is really awful.

Feel is creamy and smooth, kinda crisp. Nice finish.

Overall, everything was decent about this beer until it hit my palate. Most of it will be going into the drain, which is sad because it's such a pretty beer.

Appearance - hazy purple in color. Looks pretty. Smell - slight cherry on the nose and then some rye. Taste - nice subtle cherry, just enough to know it's there. Not really bitter. Overall - solid local brew. Would like to try on tap.
