Maple BBA version, 2019 vintage. 12.7 oz bottle poured into a pint glass, served at around 45 degrees F.
L - Dark tan, somewhat translucent. Head disappeared immediately.
S - Not strong, but notes of bourbon, maple, nut, toasted malt
T - delicious malty flavor intertwining with the bourbon, also tasting of maple syrup and nuttiness
F - Mouthfeel is medium (not thin, not thick) and flavorful with minimal interference by the carbonation
O - I love the taste of this beer. It's clearly BBA, but not overpowering and the maple is a great complement. This beer is full bodied and flavorful at 1 year old. I tend to love the german dark styles (dunkels, alts, etc.) and this one fits in quite nicely.

Very low carbonation, slightly roasted, the finish is flat and unappealing. Body in s thin without satisfactory mouthfeel. Big disappointment from an excellent brewrry.

On tap at the brewery taproom. Allowed to warm.
appearance. Very dark brown body that's nearly black and opaque. Good beige head.
Appealing, sweet aroma and flavor with clear hints of dark dried fruits and toffee.
Smooth, medium-full body and partially hidden alcohol.
Overall: Excellent version of the style.

12oz can, canned on 11/07/17, served in a tulip glass.
Appearance: Clear very dark amber. Initial 1/4" off white head died back to a thick ring at the edge, a thin skin across the top, and some small islands of lacing that slowly slid back down the glass.
Smell" Toasted malt, a hint of alcohol, some fruity esters with a swirl, and just a hint of something metallic.
Taste: Toasted malts, caramel, raisin, noble hops, with some coppery/metal notes at the very end.
Mouthfeel: Nice thickness, light underlying carbonation, dry finish. A bit too astringent at the finish. A bit of a warming sensation as well.
A great looking beer with good aroma and great start to the beer, but the metallic finish at the end is a bit too strong and takes away from the rest of the beer. It hold to style pretty well, but is let down by the metallic notes. I think they may have not quite gotten the water chemistry right on this one. Very close, but no cigar. One is enough.

Dark reddish copper, not much head.
This is much closer to a barleywine than I would have expected. I never really expect those kinds of notes when I get a doppelbock.
Sweet rasins, not as much yeast and malt breadiness as I want. It almost seems patiently aged.
Interesting, but misses the mark of a true doppel.

Enjoyed from the growler via Jungle Jim's in a snifter. This FINE doppelbock pours a dark reddish brown with a moderate head of off white foam that subsides to a thin ring, light layer, and light lacing. Nose of heavy brown sugars, dark fresh bread, raisins, and booze. Flavors follow the nose with rich brown sugar and caramel notes on the front and sides that fade to a sweet raisin bread note, a touch of light licorice, and warming booze on the aftertaste. Smooth and lightly creamy with a subtly dry finish. Most excellent.
