Poured from a 12.7 oz bottle bought at the Warped Wing Huber Heights taproom in March 2024.

L - Medium to dark brown color in a cloudy beer without much head to speak of. Neither of those characteristics is unusual for a barrel aged beer.

S - Warm, welcoming aromas of maple, cinnamon, brown sugar and vanilla. Behind those aromas are some bready malt and lightly toasted grain, typical of a barleywine.

T - It's like french toast in a glass, especially as it warms and the flavors come out even more distinctly. Just like the aromas, I get maple, cinnamon and brown sugar, along with the malt notes of a barleywine. There is a hint of age in it, with some light oxidation character, but that is not out of place in a barrel-aged barleywine like this.

F - Medium to heavy body with light carbonation. Lingering sweetness and a mouth-coating impression after the swallow. Little hops bitterness. Moderate alcohol warmth, but surprisingly not hot for such a high ABV. All good characteristics for the style.

O - This is a very good beer for what it is trying to be. Great flavors and aromas but with a heavy, slightly cloying overall impression. It seems to be exactly what was intended and I find it well done.

12.7 ounce bottle, no dating that I noticed on it. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this brew! Served in a Warped Wing snifter, the beer pours a cloudy mahogany brown color with about a quarter inch tan head. Head didn't stick around for long, and there's not much lacing either. I like the aroma, the brew smells like maple, bourbon, vanilla, oak, and brown sugar. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of some caramel, toasted malt and toffee. Bourbon character is noticeable but not strong. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit coating with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. Overall I like the maltiness of this brew, glad I got to try this one. Definitely worth buying if you come across some!

Thoroughly enjoyed from a growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a snifter.
This delectable brew pours a murky brownish black with red highlights and a modest head
of khaki foam that settles to a thin ring, thin layer, and features nice light lacing. Nose of
maple, bourbon, vanilla, brown sugars, and light subtle cherries. Flavors hit the wow point
for a dopplebock with rich sweet and warm bourbon mingling nicely with dark brown sugars
and sweet rich maple that is close to cloying yet cut by breaded malts and warm booze.
Excellent mouth feel that is rich, smooth, very warm, low on the carbonation front, and medium
full on the feel that is lightly coating.
A malt lovers dream come true!

A fantastic equal of the sum of it's parts brew done right in Dayton Ohio

Begs for some rum barrel action minus the maple-----just a suggestion;
she is perfect the way she is. A beauty that needs to be savored!

Cheer-----

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
