16.9oz bottle, no date. Served in a Duvel tulip.
Appearance: Translucent/hazy yellow-orange. Thin white head that died back to just a skin and thin ring of foam. No lacing that persisted.
Smell: Orange and lemon citrus with a bit of orange zest. Just a tiny bit of tropical fruit.
Taste: Tart citrus up front - orange and lemon with just a hint of grapefruit. Good malt sweetness for balance. Finish is bitter with citrus, a tiny bit of pineapple, a bit of grapefruit, and something woody/earthy which I find quite unusual.
Mouthfeel: Good thickness, sticky on the teeth. Light carbonation and bit spicy on the palate.
Overall / Drinkability: An ok DIPA, but not a great one. There is something about the hop profile and the aftertaste that I'm not completely enjoying. But it's different than most of the crowd of DIPAs out there with this hop profile. Went well with food (gyros and salad). One large bottle per evening is enough - I'm not feeling a need for more.
